Description
An organic polymer commonly used in drilling through gravel, sand, and silt, which may or may not be plastic. The use of polymer-based drilling mud ensures better performance of drilling equipment.
Usage and Features
- Facilitates drilling at granular levels due to its “lubricating” effect.
- To reinforce and provide greater stability to the borehole walls.
- Prevent siphoning when drilling into low-pressure confined aquifers.
- To facilitate the removal of debris from inside the borehole.
- To facilitate the cooling of the drill bit or drill bit crown.
